These can be activated or deactivated as a minor action, and they do not require any Crew Support to appear. They cannot operate outside of the ship, and they do not improve when introduced in subsequent adventures. However, if any character advances are used to improve these supporting characters, all the supporting characters granted by this talent receive the advance.\r\n\r\nVARIABLE GEOMETRY WARP FIELD: A ship with a variable\r\ngeometry warp field can adjust its subspace field in highly turbulent spacetime and can continue to provide propulsive force even then. When you attempt a task to go to warp, you may select one trait in play which negatively affects the task roll, and ignore its effects.\r\n\r\nEXCELSIOR SAUCER SEPARATION: All Excelsior-class vessels have the capability to detach their saucer section in an emergency to be used as a lifeboat. However, unlike the Saucer Separation talent, the Excelsior class is unable to re-dock the detached saucer with the secondary hull outside of a drydock. Ships\u2019 systems are halved (round down) for the saucer and the secondary hull when separated, the saucer is unable to enter warp speeds, and each section is considered a Scale 4 vessel.
