Dwarvish Greataxe

T
his weapon is specifically designed to capitalize on the stature and strength of a Dwarven battle-trained wielder. The haft is short, thick and quite strong; it can be made of wood or metal. A skilled wielder may use either one or two hands on the weapon.

While the unusual distribution of weight between head and haft feek quite natural to a Dwarven wielder, they make this weapon difficult for even an experienced non-Dwarven axeman to use without specific training. The double-edged head of the axe is almost always etched with dwarven runes, symbols Though these do not necessarily imbue the blade with any magical power, they sometimes make it difficult for any but a well-trained eye to discern whether there are any magical runes etched onto the blade as well.
