Dwarvish Handaxe

T
his smaller cousin of the Dwarvish Greataxe is designed to be both a hand-held or thrown weapon. In the former case, it is not unusual for the wielder to have one in each hand; in fact Dwarvish Handaxes are often found as a set of two identically decorated weapons. In the latter case, special attention to balance between head and haft make weapons formidable projectiles.

As with its larger cousin, the head of the Dwarven Handaxe is almost always decorated with patterns and runes, often related to those that decorate the Clan Dagger of the weapon's owner. And again as with the larger cousin, these make it difficult for an untrained eye to discern actual magical runes that can imbue the weapon with additional abilities.

Unlike its larger cousin, a Dwarven heritage or training is not needed to wield this weapon effectively. Anyone proficient in Hatchet weapons can wield it properly.
