Centuries ago, most of the elves of Harn retreated to their forest kingdom Evael. Elves only rarely leave Evael. Within its confines, they are virtually immortal. Leaving the protective magics of the forest kingdom, revokes that immortality until the elf spends another 100 years within its aura. Instead of venturing forth themselves, they often send their half elf vassals. The council of elves even has the ability to make humans into Half Elves . But they are reluctant to use this power, because the elves as a whole fear the long-term effect of the high reproduction rate of the humans.
A small group of elves decided to give up their isolation (and therefore their immortality). They make up the Wardens of the Tree, which is a fighting order of elves and their supporters.
