The Sapienza Scroll

Wondrous Item

Legendary Requires Attunement

The Sapienza Scroll is a little-known object that has had - at a first glance - little or no impact on history. Almost nothing is known regarding its creator, its many properties and the finality of its use.

In reality, this unimpressive roll of paper is a powerful artefact, rivalling the creations of the Rimwalkers. With the capacity to bend and influence the very fabric of Time and Space, this object has the potential to utterly change reality, should it fall into the wrong hands.

Mysteriously enough, travellers to different dimensions have on occasion come across other versions of this same scroll, tethered to the fabric of causality and magic. Even more mysterious, each scroll once belonged, belongs or will belong, to a version of the human mortal known only as Lohar Sapienza.

Dormant state

  • Once per long rest, the wielder of the Scroll may peer into the past and seek to answer a question. The answer may come in the shape of a vision. To successfully be able to dive through the eddies of time, the user must make a simple Wisdom check (depending on the difficulty, more checks may be required).

Awakened state

  • The user gains the ability to peer into the past twice per short rest.
  • Once per long rest and as an action, the user can cast the Time Stop spell.
  • Once per long rest, the wielder can attempt to shift the currents of causality and try to divine a possible future. This requires a Wisdom check.

Exalted state

  • The wielder of the scroll gains the ability to draw items back from the past. Once per long rest, the user can make a Wisdom check to attempt to retrieve an object they have come in contact with in the past. If successful, this will retrieve a copy of an object, thus preventing any disruption of the space-time continuum.
  • Once per long rest, the user may attempt to send an item into the future. The Wisdom check also applies.
  • Once a year, the wielder of the Scroll can take a day and for the price of 2'000 gp of materials, imbue a location with Time and Relative Dimensions in Space. In other words, they can create a location that has an endless set of rooms and that is in a functional pocket universe, connected yet separate from Syrros. The Scroll can be used to end this effect at any time.

Destroying the Scroll

Destroying the Scroll if theoretically possible.

Is it a good idea?

Probably not.
