A longsword that measures just over three feet in total blade length, with a sleek but not overly thin profile, showing a moderate taper from its broad base to a fine point. Its ḧuntāld bears a faint, golden sheen, a result of gelwed folding that imparts a subdued gleam rather than a bright luster. Along the upper quarter of the blade, two narrow fullers run parallel on each side, shallow but cleanly incised, providing a distinct linear accent that highlights the sword’s straight geometry. The guard is fashioned in the characteristic symmetry of the period, featuring two short, forward-curving quillons, each slightly flattened and squared off at the ends. Their surface is inlaid with modestly intricate root patterns, etched with a thin gelwed vein. Beneath the guard, the grip extends about a hand’s width, bound in layered segments of pale leather over a refined wooden core. The top and bottom edges of the grip are reinforced with narrow ginelwa rings that share the same inlay style as the guard. At the pommel sits a broad, disc-shaped finial, gently beveled, with a raised central boss slightly larger than a coin. In the center of this boss, a small stylized Ḧelflynz crest stands proud, meticulously chiseled. All across the ḧuntāld and fittings, minute hammer marks, carefully smoothed but still faintly visible, speak to a practical forging approach.
