The void where divine power once flowed, you have now filled with determination or spite. Oathbreakers exist in many forms, whether you have seen the error of your evil ways and are turning a path to good, or have become jaded and filled with hate, and are working on aligning yourself with evil, the path of an Oathbreaker is one not easily taken. While most Champions would be concerned with losing connection with their deity, you have chosen to sever this tie intentionally and embrace this new challenge.
Oathbreaker 1st
You have broken your oaths to your deity and have forsaken them. You still have access to some of your abilities, but others seem to have left along with your devotion.
You must select Oathbreaker Dedication as your 2nd level class feat.
Prerequisites You are a Champion who has broken their ties with their deity.
Deity Adjustment You no longer possess the Deity feature from the Champion class, however you still keep your proficiency with your former deity's skill, and your deific weapon, until you bind yourself to another deity, if you choose to do so later in your career as a Champion. You also retain your Champion's Aura, and when you have it active, followers of your former deity immediately know that you used to be a Champion of that deity. Losing the Deity feature also means that if you were previously sanctified, either Holy or Unholy, you are no longer sanctified.
Devotion Spells Adjustment You may keep your chosen Devotion Spell that you held previously with your former deity or change it to
Shields of the Spirit,
Lay On Hands, or
Touch of the Void.
Edicts and Anathemas Adjustment You lose any edicts and anathema from your deity and instead gain the following:
Edicts Avoid becoming indebted or beholden to anyone (though you may still form relationships and agreements), seek change within yourself for the path you choose to follow.
Anathema Follow your former deity's practices, refuse to change your ways and traverse a new path.
You must choose the Oathbreaker Cause for your Champion Cause.
Oathbreaker Cause
For one reason or another, you have forsaken your deity and are on a path to change, for better or for worse.
Pulse of Remorse
Trigger A creature in your aura is attacked by another creature in your aura
Your very will causes a creature pain if it dares to be hostile towards you or others. The creature that was attacked gains resistance against the triggering attack equal to 2 + half your level, or 2 + your level if the attacking creature has the Holy or Unholy traits.
At the end of its turn, the attacking creature takes 1d6 Spirit damage per attack it took or per different creature it intentionally attacked or damaged on that turn (1d6 if it damaged one creature, 2d6 if it damaged two different creatures, and so on). The maximum is 4d6 if it damaged 4 different creatures.
At levels 5, 9, 13, 17, and 20, the amount of spirit damage the target takes for each creature it damaged that turn increases by 1d6, and the maximum damage the target can take per turn increases by 4d6.
Relentless Reaction
The creature damaged by the initial reaction's damage also takes persistent spirit damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
Exalted Reaction
Each enemy in your Champion's Aura takes half the damage you deal to the attacking creature.
