Daedalus' Designs
Harmonious Ensemble
2-level Conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: Self
Components: Verbal, Somatic, Material
Materials: a small piece or model of each type of instrument to be summoned
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour
You summon an enchanted musical instrument to accompany you with an ever-changing melody. As part of casting this spell, you must have a small piece of the type of instrument you wish to summon: strings, woodwind, brass, and percussion. The instrument can be any handheld or small-sized instrument, such as a violin, flute, trumpet, and tambourine.
The instrument begins playing a soft background melody upon summoning, adjusting their tune based on the situation: the different types of melodies are described below. The music not only adds to the atmosphere but also provides mechanical benefits to you and your allies.
- Tension Melody. If a hidden or sinister presence is detected, the instrument plays eerie and creeping melodies. While the tension melody is active, you and your allies gain a +1 bonus to initiative rolls and saves against being Frightened, allowing you to react quickly to potential threats or surprises.
- Battle Melody. As the threat becomes more imminent or a battle begins, the music shifts to an energetic combat jig. While the battle melody is playing, you and your allies add +1 to any damage rolls you make against creatures that can hear the music. In addition, whenever you or an ally hits a creature with a weapon attack, the attacker gains 5 temporary hit points.
- Exploration Melody. The instrument plays a captivating exploration melody that fills your surroundings with a sense of wonder and curiosity. While the exploration melody is active, you and your allies gain a +1 bonus on Wisdom (Perception) checks and Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to find hidden objects or uncover secrets in your environment. This heightened awareness allows you to spot hidden clues and perceive details that others might miss.
The tune that plays is outside of your control, determined instead by the DM depending on the situation. The instrument does have an unnatural sense for danger, and may swap to the Tension Melody moments before even the stealthiest of foes reveal themselves.
At higher levels: When this spell is cast at 3rd level or higher, an additional instrument of your choice is summoned for each level above 2nd. For each additional instrument, the bonuses to checks and saves granted by this spell are increased by 1, and any temporary hit points granted by this spell are increased by 5.
