Spellcasting. The abeil is a 15th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 19, +9 spell attack bonus). It has the following spells prepared:

  • At will: Druidcraft, Message, Thorn Whip, Thunderclap
  • 3/day each: Grasping Vine, Healing Word, Locate Creature, Spike Growth
  • 2/day each: Commune with Nature, Mass Cure Wounds, Revivify, Scrying,
  • 1/day each: Feeblemind, Regenerate, Wall of Thorns


Flyby. The abeil doesn't provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy's reach.

Hive Mind. Abeil born within the same hive have a form of long-range telepathy similar to the Sending spell. If the abeil is within 25 miles (40 km) of the hive, it can telepathically send a brief message at the start of its turn to another abeil within range. A creature with telepathy can listen to the hive mind communications with a successful Charisma check (DC 16).

Actions

Multiattack. The abeil can make a claws & a sting attack, a longsword & a sting attack, or two composite bow attacks.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, 5' reach, one target. Hit: 9 (2d4 + 4) 2d4+4 slashing damage. The abeil can immediately attempt a grapple check on the targeted creature with a DC 16 saving throw.

Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, 5' reach, one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) 1d10+4 piercing damage & the target has disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of the abeil's next turn.

Composite Bow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, 100'/450' range, one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) 1d6+3 piercing damage.

Sting. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, 5' reach, one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) 1d6+4 piercing damage & the targeted creature must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 20). Failure: The creature takes 5 (2d4) 2d4 poison damage & gains one level of exhaustion. Success: The creature takes half of the poison damage.

Drone. The abeil beats its wings in such a way to create a lulling, buzzing sound. Each creature within 60' of the abeil must succeed a Constitution saving throw (DC 21) or fall asleep. Abeils are immune to this ability.

Reactions

Parry. Trigger: When a hostile creature the abeil can see targets it for an attack. Result: The abeil can gives itself a +4 AC bonus.

Suggested Environments

Warm to temperate climate. Hill, plain, or desert terrain.
