This oily alchemical substance helps kobold miners carving through rock. When a thin layer of rockmelt is applied to a stone surface, it seeps into the stone and gradually softens it. After 1 minute, stone affected by rockmelt is soft enough to cut with a knife to a depth of 1 ft. after which point it resumes its normal hardness. After 1 hour, the stone re-hardens. This quality makes rockmelt popular not only for mining troublesome rock formations but for forging stonebased art and weapons as well. One pint of rockmelt is enough to coat a 5-ft.-square stone wall or one Medium-sized stone object.
