Seldarine

A bard garbed in bright greens, blues, and reds takes the stage in a tavern on the southern coast of the Empire. The rubies dangling from her tall, pointed ears swing as she sings tales of a land filled with celestial and fey things; where even the livestock sings along to her tune. The grumpy patrons find themselves bobbing their heads and tapping their feet as her glossed lips purse around her comely ocarina; she carries the day's atmosphere into the deep night.
The red brick streets of Taesi patter at the bustling traffic above; a grand bell's rest is disturbed at the top of the Ministry's spire. Merchants bring their finest goods from their shops to the streets in decorated carts as the midday recess of the aristocrats begins. Among them is a simple fig merchant, his face scarred from his years of service. He donates one of his stock to an urchin, and a noble takes notice. Humbled, the excessive gentleman offers to buy one just the same for twice the price; he accepts. His dried lips crack into a grin as the man departs, soon the tightly packed poisonous wasps will be loosed upon that first bite, and he will finally have his revenge.
A sharp, chilled breeze cuts through the Paladin's plate. She shuts the eyes of her dead companion and grips her longsword with one hand, shield in the other. Rising to her feet, she hears the voice of the goddess in her ear; she knows this is her life's purpose. She sees red on her blue skin, she doesn't care; she charges the Drow 'cross the field and holds her shining blade high.
These are the adventurers of Seldarine. It is an Elven society that aspire to the heroism their deity, Aerdrie Faenya, showed in the face of extinction against the giants in eras long past. Rather than let themselves be caught in the webs of foreign intrigue, they craft their own with carefully planned noble courts that forge the country's path ahead. The people follow the Everqueen, the direct descendants of the goddess herself.

Suggested Characteristics

Characters from Seldarine usually reflect the haughty and noble society they originate from. Sometimes nationalistic to a fault, an adventurer from Seldarine might take on a glamorous appearance or otherwise attempt to draw attention in order to better represent their society. For some, this is a call for help to be accepted; for others, it is simply a selfish means to acquire wealth.
Although Seldarine society is rather homogeneous on the whole, it doesn't speak to the motivations, attitudes, or personalities of its people. Even Everqueens have felt like outsiders in their own country. An adventurer is nothing if not one to break the mold. Consider an adventurer's purpose for leaving the comfort of upscale Seldarine life, are they interested in a military career? Do they want to expand Seldarine's influence? Do they serve a higher power, such as one of the noble courts?
