The morning after investigating a stranded vessel in deep space, the colonial cruiser Hippogryph has lost all contact with the outside world. Seemingly trapped in an endless void, the crew of the ship work to discover what has happened to their ship and how to escape. Their chances of survival are further diminished by the appearance of an alien parasite and the growth of a cult which is slowly absorbing the crew.
