I absolutely love the dictionary feature for conlangs, however I really wish that dictionaries could be used like variables. I've sort of been using variables as dictionaries, but I'd like them all to be attached to one language as a dictionary, so I'm not sure how this could be done. Would it be easier to assign a set of variables to a language as a dictionary, or add a feature to the dictionary that would be used like variables?
Anyway, I create a lot of conlangs, and it would be nice to be able to insert a word in certain articles and have people hover over it and be able to see what language that word is from along with the translation of the word.
Example: My world is a different planet, with shorter days and longer years. The people on this planet use the word vareš to basically mean hours, though it's a different way of dividing up time. Saying hours isn't really accurate, since it isn't equal to 60 minutes, it's equal to 36 sileš, a smaller measurement of time. But just saying vareš or sileš in the article isn't really helpful either unless there's some kind of easy translation to remind readers (and honestly myself) what that word means.
Anyway, I looked around to see if anyone had posted a suggestion like this and I saw one that had been closed, but then I lost it and couldn't find it again and couldn't see how long ago it had been posted. So I hope this isn't annoying that I've posted this!
I use variables to solve the problem you encounter in the example. While it wouldn't be attached to the language article, using an advanced variable would let you include dictionary formatting, and I believe you might even be able to include a link to the language article if you use the section variable.
