Tinderbox: S02E04

General Summary

Diene 10th, 1870

The Cove

The team postpones the mission at the underwater Ancient History Museum of Eld . Instead, they will focus their efforts on the meeting at the "Hole by the Cliff" and discuss how and what they should do. The decision is made to head at Barrogate as soon as possible and scout the location.

Scouting Barrogate "Hole"

Reaching what it used to be the Hillfall Club (before the crack that split the building in two), they find that the whole area is surrounded by a galvanized steel construction site hoarding.

Priscilla & Theo

Move towards the building opposite to Styx that overlooks the construction site in order to get a better view of what is hidden behind the steel construction wall. Their efforts prove to be less than successful and they are quickly spotted by three construction workers who were located by the wall but outside of the construction site (either being a lookout or actually having lunch).

Morgana & Max

Approach the three men that obviously saw the teams' movements in order to get more information and stop them from reporting on them. The situation deteriorates into a fight that ends up with two of the three men unconscious and on the floor and hidden behind the near by bushes. The third who was a bit more cooperative lets them know about the building site a bit. They learn that the hole was patched with cement and that there is a building that will be built on top of it but that there is also a hatch with an elevator heading into the hole.

Phineas at the Sharpest Edge

Phineas heads to the Sharpest Edge to talk to Linus Griffin and Nicoletta Griffin to find out if they know anything about the site, since it is rather close. Phineas learns that some of the workers come to drink here at night, he tells Phineas that it is a bit odd that they can spend this kind of money since the Edge is not a cheap place, and certainly not a place anyone of the workers class would have chosen normally. He also learns that Architects and Engineers work on the site day and night.

Diene 11th, 1870

On the 11th when the team knows that the meeting between Linus and the Mysterious woman will happen they leave early and with the help of Captain Max they position themselves to observe their meeting.

Max gets Francine Weatherhorn to fly them there once again and stay on alert in case the team needs to leave quickly.

Theo Osborne and Phineas I. Corwen observe from above at the building overlooking the site.

Priscilla Philomena Modesty Featherstone and Sergeant Kyle Thomson queues up on the line for Styx

Countess Morgana Cornelia Selina Beaumont and Captain Maximus Orion Hawkes hide in the bushes opposite to the site

The two marines that also staked out the site at Rookhelm Island the other day also escort the group in order to provide any assistance if it is needed. The two marines stay by the dilapidated building opposite to the entrance of Styx

Outside the Hole

Linus Jesse Carton arrives first, from the side of Styx followed by Juliet Monroe and Arpa close behind him coming from the road leading to the city center and Barrogate Arena. At the same time, Priscilla Philomena Modesty Featherstone is startled by a sudden appearance of Gwendolyn Fleming that finds her waiting outside Styx. Gwendolyn invites Priscilla to join her inside, where she can also introduce her to a friend of hers. Priscilla expertly declines and Gwendolyn does not push the issue and moves inside the Club.
Phineas I. Corwen using Clairaudience listens in the conversation that Linus Griffin has with the enigmatic Juliet Monroe and Arpa

“Good boy” she says and it’s obvious that Juliet Monroe is the woman on the telephone.
“Thank you, Arch Priestess” Linus replies. He then reaches into his pocket and gives her a vial capped with something metallic on its edges, inside is a liquid.
“A little gift as I promised.” Linus replies.
“So, are we ready?”, Juliet asks
“We are working as fast as we can”
Juliet raises her hand and quickly that anyone can see slaps Linus and he falls to the ground.
“Not good enough. The rest of our family arrives soon and we have to be ready.”
“I understand, I have talked with Frostring and you will have what you asked for."
"What happened to the ships you promised?", She asks
"I don't know, we had them working for us and then they just didn’t deliver." Linus says
(This is probably regarding the airships Morgana took from Tesla Aeronautics that were arranged to be given to the Kelean Mandate )
"Then he is useless, kill him." Juliet says about the owner of the company. (?)
Linus nods like a good boy.
“Shall we head down? Let’s see how much you can disappoint me” Juliet says.

They head down the hatch through the elevator. Theo Osborne uses Clairvoyance inside the cave from memory.

Inside the Hole

The second time, Theo sees inside that part of the cave.
The first time, Theo sees a large metallic door that leads to the part of the cave that the Ark was.
Linus is putting in a code that Theo sees what is the code he entered on the panel
The door opens, Theo uses Clairvoyance once again this time deeper through the metallic airlock.
In the cave several people are working on the walls that the team previously saw the luminescent material.
They are using heavy machinery and getting slivers of the materials on the walls. In the cave, there is a series of coffin like metallic container with crystal glass on top of them and some sort of Galvanic machinery on them (30 or so in total and in one of them Theo recognizes Tom Ernest Silver ).
On the opposite side there is a quickly made lab. Arpa takes the vial Juliet was given and puts it under a microscope, she wears gloves and a mask and takes a drop of the liquid. She opens the visor of one of the coffin, the man inside looks unconscious, (probably paralyzed) with his eyes open. Arpa drops a tiny amount of the liquid in the edge of the mans' eye. Almost instantly his eyes turn black and he looks like he has Iridye .

Arpa takes a pause concentrating, then she looks towards Theo like she sees into his eyes she reaches psionically and tries to grab his soul pulling it towards her ripping it apart from his body.

“Who are you? What are you doing here? Tell me and I will not destroy you completely.", Arpa says looking at Theo intently
"Begone from this place, and do not come back unless I summon you or I will not be so kind'"

The connection breaks and Theo calls for an immediate abort of the mission while Phineas I. Corwen, truly freaked out is trying to realize what is going on. As everyone leaves, Priscilla Philomena Modesty Featherstone makes the decision to follow Gwendolyn Fleming into Styx, Countess Morgana Cornelia Selina Beaumont decides to follow her in as well as everyone else is being picked up by Francine Weatherhorn into the Starling. Max gives instructions to Kyle and Francine and then the aircraft departs without Captain Maximus Orion Hawkes who decides to stay hidden into the bushes.

Morgana and Priscilla walk up to the front of the line. Once the guards stationed outside recognize Morgana they let them both in immediately. When inside, Morgana directs Priscilla to look around for Gwendolyn as she plans to meet her ''friend'', presumably the owner of Styx.
