Character 2 - Human Fighter
You grew up in the town of Dryad Falls, one of the larger settlements that can be found within the Feywood itself. Your parents owned and operated an inn near the northeast end of town, and the common room of that inn is where you spent a good deal of your childhood and teenage years. Because of that, you have been exposed to the fantastic stories told by adventurers who visited the inn, and have always had a yearning to experience some of that adventure for yourself.
But the family business came first. As you reached young adulthood, your aging parents relied on you more and more. You have done pretty much every job an innkeeper has to do, from sweeping the floors and cleaning the rooms above the common room to serving ales to the customers. You enjoyed the "barkeep" tasks... people were always friendly when they relied on you to pour their drinks. Of course, you occasionally had to deal with the unfriendly ones as well, and it's a good thing you inherited your strong physique from your father to enable you to do so.
You've acquired a few additional skills as well, thanks to some of the regulars at the inn. One in particular, a retired dwarven adventurer named Yasdrem Grayarm, even taught you how to wield a waraxe "like a proper dwarf in battle". You've learned the basics of using it two ways - either two-handed for, as Yasdrem would say, for maximum effect, or in one hand with a shield strapped to the other arm. As you learned these skills, though, you often wondered whether you would ever actually need them. Even in the worst bar brawls, war axes are generally frowned upon.
Your answer came recently, though. A fire destroyed the inn -- started when one boisterous customer knocked another into the hearthand splilled burning logs out into the room. Nobody was seriously harmed, but with the inn gone, and your parents getting on in years, you realized that rebuilding was not an option. This meant another source of income would be needed for your family. And so, with the axe and shield given to you as gifts by Yasdrem, as well as an old set of chainmail handed down for a few generations from some soldier relative of yours, you took to the road to seek your fortune.
You now find yourself at the Bugbear's Head Inn, deep in the Feywood, wondering when - if ever - you will actually find some adventure.
