Sideralis Strait Triton

Tritons of the Sideralis Strait and nearby southern Kentron Ocean region are some of the smallest and also most vibrantly colored tritons. Still averaging between 6.5 and 7 feet tall, these tritons typically have seaweed-like hair and are able to shift the coloration of their skin; the patterns they produce are not elaborate, but when combined their hair, can greatly aid in camouflage. They do not have sagittal fins, but typically have long, short dorsal fins down the length of their back and on their forearms.

ability score increase: When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.

age: Tritons typically live 100 years

Size: Medium

speed: 30ft, and a swimming speed equal to your walking speed

Languages: Common, Emissary of the Sea, one additional language of your choice

race features:

Amphibious

You can breathe air and water.

Natural Camouflage

As a bonus action, you may shift the color of your skin to attempt to blend in with the surrounding environment, giving yourself advantage on stealth checks made while remaining still. The effect will last until you leave the environment you attempted to blend into, or until you use another bonus action to shift your skin again.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Emissary of the Sea

You can communicate simple ideas to any Beast, Elemental, or Monstrosity that has a swimming speed. It can understand your words, though you have no special ability to understand it in return.

Guardian of the Depths

Adapted to the frigid ocean depths, you have resistance to cold damage.
