The devil that has grafted its soul onto yours hails from Merranvar, an archipelago of withered islands amid a roiling ocean of ink. Whilst this unwanted stowaway brings a curse of melancholy, it also provides several boons. You have a natural affinity in traversing water and can invoke the aid of the acursed land's tides.

Darkvision. Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of gray.

Soul of the Sea. Your connection to the murky depths of Merranvar translates to the mortal realms. You can breathe both air and water, and you have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.

Legacy of Merranvar. You can call upon the Grasping Tides and churning waters of Almaeus's realm to aid you. You know the Shape Water cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Arms of Merranvar (Arms of Hadar) spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the Hold Person spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
