This magic item appears to be a normal crystal ball used for divination. It is about 6" in diameter, & while touching it, you can cast the Scrying spell (save DC 17).
This item has also been cursed by the Darklord that reigns over the Dread Domain in which it was found. Whenever a creature attempts to use the crystal ball, the Darklord can attempt to cast the Geas spell on that creature instead. If the targeted creature fails their save, then the Darklord will compel the charmed creature to aid the Darklord's goals in some way. If the targeted creature makes their save, then they are aware that the crystal ball is cursed & tied to the Darklord.
