Lamia

FEY

A species of reptilian females with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a snake thought to be descendants of the semi-divine naga.   Lamiae were a race once believed to be descendants of divine naga, that were then labelled as monsters, mostly due to their appearance and rumors about their habits. Eventually a shift in understanding about other species called monsters shifted these attitudes enough for attempts at communication to be made. Soon with their cultures recognized, lamias were legally considered people instead of monsters and many have integrated in the cultures of other races and vice versa.

Lamia Traits

Size: Medium

Speed: 30 feet. You also have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.

As a Lamia, you have these special traits.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   All Terrain Traveler. The shape of your body allows you travel across multiple types of surfaces. You have a climb, swim, and burrow speed equal to your walking speed and have tremorsense up to 20 ft of you whether above or below ground.   Serpentine Constrict. Your coiling lower body is a natural melee weapon, which you can use to make constrict attacks. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with a strike from your tail that deals 1d8 bludgeoning damage + your Strength or Dex modifier. Instead of dealing damage, you can choose to grapple your target instead. Until the grapple ends you can’t constrict another target and if the creature is your size or smaller, it is restrained. This leaves your hands free to wield weapons or take other actions and you may choose to grapple in this way even on a regular grapple check.
