Fimbulvetr

2-level Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 Action
Range/Area: 45ft.
Components: Verbal, Somatic, Material
Materials: Head of a Snow-drop
Duration: 3 Rounds
Attack/Save: Constitution Saving throw against the caster's spell save DC
Damage/Effect: 1d12+1d6 Cold Damage

Summoning the eternal draining cold of a desert night, you extend your hand to a target - reciting the twisted words - before the air around them is sapped of all warmth & shards of pure ice erupt from their core.

Target creature within line of sight must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. If they fail that save, they are subject to 1d12+1d6 Cold damage immediately & they will suffer 1d6 Cold damage on the start of their turn until the end of the spell duration.

However, should they succeed upon that saving throw, then they instead chose one effect from the following possibilities:

  • For the duration of this spell, the target creature has disadvantage on all Dexterity saving throws & Dexterity ability checks
  • Target creature immediately receives Cold damage equivalent to a roll of 3d6 wherein the lowest roll is removed (i.e. a roll of 3d6 resulting in a 1, 4 & 5 would equal 9 damage instead of 10).
  • Until the end of their next turn, the target creature is unable to inflict any Fire damage.

This spell does not require concentration for its lingering effects. Additionally, if it was to target a creature that is composed of snow or ice (such as an elemental), the target creature automatically succeeds their CON save. Furthermore, if it was to target a creature composed of fire (such as an elemental), the target creature automatically fails their CON save.

At higher levels: For every spell-slot level that this is upcast, add a round to the duration of the spell; i.e. If upcast to a 5th level spell slot, the spell will last for an additional 3 rounds, marking a total of 6.
