A bard of the College of Perfumers can grasp the attention of anyone around them without saying a single word. By manipulating the powerful sense of smell, these bards can create equally powerful effects that control, overpower, and shock those around them.
You learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Perfumer Spells table. Each spell counts as a bard spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of bard spells you know.
| Bard Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | Calm Emotions, Fog Cloud, Poison Spray |
| 6th | Gaseous Form, Stinking Cloud, Stench |
| 14th | Cloudkill, Wind Walk, Cloud Stride |
When you cast a spell you know of 3rd level or lower that's on the Perfumer Spells table, you can choose to do so without expending a spell slot. Once you cast a spell in this way, you can't do so again with another spell of the same level until you finish a long rest.
Also at 3rd level, you gain additional ways to use your Bardic Inspiration.
Enchanted Perfume. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration using a bonus action to magically apply a lavish perfume to a willing creature of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of you. The perfume lasts for 1 minute, during which time that creature has advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made to influence an indifferent humanoid within 10 feet of it unless it fails such a check with that humanoid.
Overwhelming Scent. Once on each of your turns, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration when you cast a spell to ignore any affected creatures' immunity to the poisoned condition and resistance to poison damage for that casting of the spell; if you cast poison spray in this way, it also ignores immunity to poison damage.
Starting at 6th level, you can now apply your Enchanted Perfume to a creature within 30 feet of you. The perfume is also laced with the clarifying magic of your Countercharm feature: the perfumed creature has advantage on any saving throw it makes against being charmed or frightened, and any effects already causing it to be charmed or frightened immediately end. Furthermore, a creature affected by the perfume doesn't need to make a saving throw against any Cloudkill, Poison Spray, Stinking Cloud or other such spells you cast.
Also at 6th level, the range of your Poison Spray spell becomes 30 feet, or 60 feet once you reach 14th level.
Alternatively, you can expend a spell slot of 3rd level or lower whenever you cast Poison Spray. If you would normally make an attack roll for the spell, the target must instead succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC to avoid taking damage from it. Regardless, a creature that succeeds on its saving throw against the spell takes half as much damage from it, instead of none, and you can apply one of the following perfume effects to the spell:
-Poisoning Spray. On a failed save, the target is also poisoned until the end of your next turn. For the duration, a creature that's poisoned in this way has disadvantage on saving throws it makes against your Bard spells.
-Revolting Spray. On a failed save, the target also spends its action on its next turn retching and reeling from the smell. A creature that doesn't need to breathe is immune to this effect.
- Slowing Spray. On a failed save, the target also has its speed halved until the end of your next turn. For the duration, it takes a penalty to its AC equal to the level of the spell slot you expended, and it can't make opportunity attacks.
-Volatile Spray. On a failed save, the target is also coated in a layer of volatile mist. The next time that target takes fire damage in the next minute, it takes extra fire damage equal to three rolls of your Bardic Inspiration die as the inflammable spray explodes.
Furthermore, you can choose to force all creatures near the target to make the saving throw against the spell as well; the effects of the spell spread around corners. The distance the effect spreads from the target depends on the level of the spell slot you expended: 1st level (10-foot radius), 2nd level (20-foot radius), or 3rd level (30-foot radius). When you cast Poison Spray using a spell slot in this way, you can target a point, instead of only a creature.
By 14th level, your familiarity with scents and gases grants you the following benefits:
-You automatically succeed on any saving throw you make against the Cloudkill, Poison Spray , Stinking Cloud and other such spells, and you have advantage on saving throws made against other harmful gases and vapours (such as inhaled poisons or a green dragon's breath weapon).
-You can apply your Enchanted Perfume to a creature within 60 feet of you.
-Your Enchanted Perfume now lasts for 10 minutes, and it also ends any effect causing the target to be stunned or unconscious (unless it has 0 hit points).
-Your Overwhelming Scent feature no longer expends a use of your Bardic Inspiration.
