Clio Dee Dee DeLance (a.k.a. Lady Clio) was born in a small grass covered hut in the village of Studigrad to her parents Gerrick and Denise DeLance. Gerrick is a priest at the small temple of Shiva located at the eastern most edge of Studingrad. The village sets near T-type intersection. The north/south main road has an old wooden bridge that crosses a nearby river. This main trading road leads through the mountains and eventually heads to Dubrovnik a walled port city near the Southern Nertie Sea. While the westbound side road runs parallel to the river and proceeds to several other smaller types of villages. With the exception of the port city most of these smaller villages are poor villages. [Village Map Coming Soon] Growing up, Clio worked and played at the Temple with her father. He was a High Priest and taught her everything he knew about healing and the history of the temple of Shiva. She took on many responsibilities of the Temple in her youth and became a respected young acolyte at the temple. Her mother, Diane, was the areas leading herbalist. She worked the land and had a farm of herbs and spices. She also grew plants for medicinal purposes. Most of what she grew she would give a certain amount to the Temple and then sell the remainder at the port city marketplace. She kept some of the profits from the herb and spices to maintain her family while providing any excess funds to the temple. Clio enjoyed her trips to the port city with her mother to the port city of Dubrovnik. It was the only chance she had to see "big city" life. She secretly had a desire to grow up leave the small village behind and run off to the big city to be like the other pretty women walking down the street. To have a modest life. A dream that many young female teens had growing up in impoverished land. When Clio was 14, the great "Barbarian Migration" began. It was the beginning of a four year war with Barbarian tribes from the north that were forced from their ancestral lands by some powerful unknown source or entity. The Barbarians were forced to leave and seek new homelands in the south. They raided, murdered, and kidnapped, in many of the villages and cities along their long migration southward heading to the last known and rumored barbarian enclave of Rameria. During these four years, the village and the temple were under constant threat. Troops from the port city were dispatched but could only do so much. Villagers had to become trained militia and fast. So, the port city guards set out to train as many villagers in the art of combat as they could. Clio, despite her father's objections she trained with the guardsmen in secret an became proficient in the ways of handling a blade and shield. Her brother David was already in the military stationed at the port city of Dubrovnik. He was a well known Paladin that served with honor despite his fathers objections to join the military at the time. David was stationed primarily at the fire base of operations just north of the village that he grew up in. While the port city troops had a fire base of operations about ten miles north of the village of Studingrad, the Temple of Shiva acted as a forward casualty collection center for the area. Clerics and healers worked on the incoming wounded (both military and civilian casualties) from the frontlines almost daily. All while fending off any barbarian hordes that managed to slip by the firebase. This is where she learned her combat medic skills and learned how to defend herself. Baptism under fire. When she turned 18 and the final barbarian hordes from the north migrating south slowed to a trickle, Clio finally had had enough of the small village and yearned to fly the coop and see the world. Much like any normal teenager would want to do. So, she left and headed to the Port City of Dubrovnik. The city had lots of shops and entertainment. But, is also a major shipping port for the region and a must stop port for any shipping repairs.
Lady Clio rented an apartment here and began serving as a part time healer in a local church. She would also become a "healer for hire" for any of the many expedition groups that passed through Dubrovnik's ports. It was on one such adventure where Lady Clio alone, separated from her party, came across a tiny snake looking lifeform that was crawling next to a dead human female body. The tiny snake, a dying celestial symbiont warlock creature, reached out Lady Clio telepathically and explained its predicament to her. The tiny snake named Petra, explained that she was a symbiont and that her host body had been killed in battle and that she had only hours left to live if she didn't join with another host. So, Lady Clio, made a conscious decision at that point to join with Petra in order to save her life. The two entities are now joined as one. Sharing powers and abilities. Lady Clio is the primary conscious entity. While Petra the female warlock symbiont is conscious but only takes full primary control when Lady Clio is angered. Many of her adventuring parties later learned that you don't poke the bear. Otherwise, she will bite you hard with her psionic abilities and her Eldritch blast thanks to her symbiont friend.
