The cordwainer, or shoemaker, is one who makes shoes that are of a fancier form that the more common sandals, low shoes and rough boots. The cordwainer is to the shoemaker what the whitesmith is to the blacksmith. They make beautiful, comfortable and extraordinarily decorated shoes. A cordwainer is generally someone in service of a noble, not someone just sets up shop in a village.
