A vertical column of black fire erupts from the ground in a location you specify. Each creature in a 10-foot radius, 30-foot-high cylinder centered on a point within range must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d8 fire + 4d8 poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Additionally, on a fail, their hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The black fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects and rots plants in the area that aren’t being worn or carried.

At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the fire and poison damage increases by 1d8 each per slot level above 6th.
