Character Selection for the One-Shot

If you're going to play a Role Playing session, you'll need a character! Since the upcoming event is a one-shot, and since at least half of the players are not familiar with the Pathfinder 2nd Edition rules that we'll be using, though, it would not be practical to have the players develop their own "from scratch" characters. Instead, we'll be using pre-generated characters. These are the fifteen characters developed by my playtest groups... characters that I know work in Cartyrion.

But instead of the usual method ("Here's the character stat sheets... pick one."), we're doing something a little different. All I'm supplying are the character back stories and the slightest bits of non-numerical information. I'd like you to pick characters that seem interesting. The statistics for each of these characters are already prepped; but you won't see them until AFTER you choose! I'm all about "Role-Play", not "Roll-Play"... this is one way of making sure that happens for this one-shot.

Selecting Characters

There are no "party makeup" requirements. We'll go with whatever group of four characters you end up picking. Feel free to talk to one another about what your choices are. Officially, I'm asking you to pick in the order that you signed up. We'll do this as follows:
  1. DMStretch... you were first to sign up. So all you need to do is tell me which of the 15 characters you wish to play.
  2. moonflower_writer... you were second. Please give me your "top two" selections, in order. If DMStretch has already chosen your first choice, you'll get your second choice.
  3. esongbird24601... you were third. Please give me your "top three" selections, in order. You'll get the highest choice still available after DM and moonflower.
  4. scribeofnekoti... you were fourth. You get to give me your "top four". You can figure out how that'll work.
Of course... if you want to discuss choices among yourselves and "build a party", feel free to do so! But I'd like your choices no later than Friday, 16-October.

One quick note... it is quite possible to function in this world as a party without the Cleric as long as you have some "alternate" form of healer. This could mean the Champion (who can "Lay On Hands"), or one of the Alchemists (both of whom can create healing elixirs), or the Druid (who can access the same Heal spell as the Cleric), or even the Bard (with the "Soothe" composition). Alternatively (or in addition to this), some of your limited starting coin could be used to purchase a healing elixir or two at the Inn where you start.

After I have all of your selections, I will provide you with the stat-filled Character Sheets that are associated with each profile. I will allow some minor customizations: things like some specific equipment, cantrip lists, spell repertoires or alchemical formula lists. Attributes, Skill Bonuses, Saving Throws, etc. will not be adjustable. You will also be receiving a brief "primer" about the World of Cartyrion and the Region you'll be playing in.

There will also be a very brief "differences between PF2 and DD5E" writeup to help out the few of you that aren't very familiar with PF2. Some hints as to how I work as a GM will be included here as well.

Setting the Schedule

Finally, there's scheduling... probably the hardest part of all this. I'd like to set aside 4 hours. It took my playgroups longer to go through this, but my playgroups tend to "drift" a lot during gameplay. Hopefully, we'll stay on track better and will be able to complete the adventure in that time. But that means I need each of you to look at your personal schedules and...
give me a list of where you can allocate a 4 hour block of time
somewhere between Sunday, October 25th and Friday, October 30th.

Use your own LOCAL TIMEZONE TIME - I will make the adjustments. (for the record, esong and scribe are CDT, moon and I are EDT, and DMStretch will be on BST by then.)
